Luke 14:16–23 NLT
Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many
invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the
banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field
and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen,
and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t
come.’
“The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and
said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the
blind, and the lame.’ After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for
more.’ So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge
anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
1. Fill the House with His Presence
Exodus 33:15–16 NLT
Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this
place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your
people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart
from all other people on the earth.”
John 1:43–46 NLT
The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Come, follow
me.” Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown. Philip went to look for
Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses[o] and the prophets wrote
about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.” “Nazareth!” exclaimed
Nathanael. “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” “Come and see for yourself,” Philip
replied.
2. Fill the House with His People
Luke 14:23 NLT
So his master said, "Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full."
3. Fill the House with His Power
Acts 1:8 NLT
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
