Psalm 11:1–3 (NKJV)
In the Lord I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”? For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
God established marriage as the foundation of society in Genesis 1, and it has never changed.
Genesis 1:26–28 (NKJV)
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 5:1–2 (NKJV)
This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.
Marriage is God’s plan A, and there is no plan B.
Marriage will never be outdated or replaced as God’s only blessed foundation for society.
Genesis 2:24–25 (NKJV)
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Satan has been obsessed with the destruction of the foundation of marriage since the Garden of Eden, and his strategy has never changed.
Eight Signs of an Atomistic (individual-focused) Age:
1. Marriage loses its sacredness, as it is frequently broken by divorce.
2. The traditional meaning of marriage is lost.
3. The feminist movement abounds.
4. There is an increased public disrespect for parents.
5. There is an increase in juvenile delinquency, promiscuity, and rebellion.
6. The hostility of pseudo-intellectuals to the traditional family soon spreads to the common people.
7. There is an increased acceptance of adultery.
8. There is a tolerance for and spread of sexual perversions of all kinds, especially homosexuality, but including others such as adultery.
1 Samuel 8:7 (NKJV)
And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.”
How to Stand for the Institution of Marriage:
1. Believe what the Bible says about marriage, not what the world says.
Genesis 2:18 (NKJV)
It is not good that man should be alone….
2. Let God use you to give others hope.
3. Turn your fears, failures, and pain to God and trust Him with your future!
John 4:5–18 (NKJV)
So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
